I absolutely love this dress and I got so many compliments! I ended up wearing the S and it was really comfortable and not too short. The M also fit but the waist was lower than I liked. I didn't wear a bra with it and it was fine because I'm small up top. If you have anything above a B you will definitely need a strapless bra, & in that case size up the dress. Don't hesitate to rent this, it's amazing! Also, it's definitely black, I just lightened the pic to show the detail :)

I didn't get to wear this dress because it didn't arrive in time for my event (not RTR's fault), but when I did get to try it on, it definitely runs big. I normally wear a 6 and it was so big that the front cut-out hung in a weird spot. Next time I'll order the SR and I think it will be perfect! It is an awesome dress and very well made, I definitely recommend it.
