The small was longer in the torso than the xs which made it hit just below my bottom in the back for a perfect fit. The xs seemed more for shorter torso ladies. I would suggest having some curve in order to fit the form of the dress but you don't have to be by definition curvy. I wore it for a 1920s NYE party. Amazing!

The reviews are hit or miss. I typically wear a size 4 and it said it ran large so I ordered a 4 and 2 just in case. The 2 was also too large so I was unable to wear the dress. I have an athletic build and the dress could have been cute but I wasn't expecting 2-3 dress sizes too big. The 2 fit ok around my rib cage but the hips were still very large. I have a feeling the next size down would have still been too big at the hips and very snug at the ribs.

Very true to size. I wear a 4. I'm 5'7 140lbs. Difficult to dance a lot in just because it fits tighter at the bottom. Overall, great dress.
