This isn't the dress I originally asked for. It was one of several "alternates" that RTR asked me to choose from. I wasn't sure about it. I liked the way it looked on the model but I thought it would be a knit jersey and was worried about it clinging to the wrong places. Instead, it was a stiffer fabric (maybe satin?) and was lined. It was much more structured and flattering than I expected. And a little bonus for the short ladies (I am 5' 1".) Initially, the waist fell below my natural waistline and was hard to zip. I did a little trick that changed everything (in a good way): I pulled the waist of the dress up to my natural waist and "bloused" the extra fabric. It worked out well and I liked the way it looked on me. One downside: The black fabric across the shoulders is see-through. I didn't have time or the budget to get a new bra. I wore a black bra and the straps were visible in front.

I was aware of the scratchy sequins but they didn't really bother me. The deep V neckline was not a great choice for my petite height. (I am 5' 1".) The dress fit me well when I was standing up but when sitting, I looked down and noticed the bust was really gaping. I was very self-conscious of the way I sat for the rest of the evening and was constantly adjusting.
